Htc One M9 full review

The excellent HTC One M8 finally has a successor in the form of the HTC One M9.one of  new phones  2015 ,We can equally take in hand the unit and in this preliminary HTC One M9 review we take a look at everything that is new to the unit.

Design: as two drops of water

For the design of the HTC One M9 has his own words combined the best of the M7 and M8, The m9 has a rounder brushed aluminum and looks in our opinion better than the M7, but because the back is a lot smoother, he quickly slips out of your hands. The HTC One M9 is like his predecessors made from a single piece of anodized aluminum, but is more resistant to scratches and slightly sharper edges. Personally, we find the beautiful contours of the M8, but when holding the M9 have substantially more grip.

at first sight you see the design of the M9 a little like its predecessors. He is again in gold, silver and dark gray (with a gold edge) and the  differences between the fronts of the M9 and M8 is almost nothing. The screen size is the same with the m8 and the same thing for the placement of the Tree Sound speakers, which sound pretty loud again. At the top of the device is an infrared sensor available that helps you control your TV or set-top box. The power button, which previously was located on the top, it is moved to operate the right side and therefore it is more  easy to use.

We turn to the M9, especially attack the objective of the square camera, Unlike its predecessor, there is a current camera.

 HTC One M8 has an ultra-4 pixel camera and a corresponding 2-megapixel camera that can be used to define stereotypes strongly thereafter, the ultra-pixel camera of the HTC M9 is moved forward, and the new is that the M9 improved the  camera on the back to 20 megapixel (more on that later). For the rest, the back is quite similar, the dual LED flash, plastic lines and the HTC logo are in the exact same location.

Screen and hardware: ready for the future

The screen of the HTC One M9 measures 5 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. HTC has not chosen to equip the device with a larger screen and a higher screen resolution and that is what we are concerned only good news. The unit is still good when using it with only one hand and you don't feel that you run out of room. The viewing angles, color reproduction and sharpness are very good,

for the battery the HTC M9 have a large battery of 2840 mah and again has an excelent battery life, During our test review of the HTC ONE M9 , we haven't tested it thoroughly, but when swiping through the interface and start the camera and various apps there's no noticeable delays. with the Snapdragon 810 chip and 3GB of RAM the device is powerful enough to run multiple processes simultaneously .

The Snapdragon 810 is a octacore processor, which means he has eight cores. The chip has four cores that are used to perform light tasks, such as when you send a message via WhatsApp, and four cores that are intended specifically for heavy tasks, such as playing 3D games, shooting 4K videos. This is already happening in many other chips, but the system has been improved with the Snapdragon 810.

Furthermore, the M9 have 32GB storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB with a memory card.

 And the Dolby technology   that HTC uses should ensure that the sound from both the Tree Sound speakers and headphones will sound fuller and more powerful, though we have not been able to test this properly.

Software: slim and supple

However, the updated software of the HTC ONE M9 have expanded to take in hand. The device runs on Android 5.0 standard Lollipop with Sense 7.0 software skin . You can choose from a number of pre-installed themes, but also create one based on photos that you have made. The device is adapted  to your home screen and lock screen and look at the color palette of the picture. You can  applied this colors in the theme, so your background is in accordance with the colors and icons of the interface.

the  Sense 7.0 software skin  make the m9 more  smarter. also the social homescreen Blink Feed doesn't shows  only interesting messages from media that you follow, but also photos of locations where you've been and restaurants in the area, based on information from Yelp and Foursquare.

The M9 also learns from your app usage. There is a useful widget that displays frequently used apps , and you can display  apps related to multimedia and  entertainment ,it is also possible to customize the list of apps as you want and that allow you to get access faster to your favorite apps.

Another nice new feature is One Gallery, a gallery that brings  all your pictures  together, including those of Google drive , facebook , Dropbox and  Flickr, And You can link these accounts to the gallery and  That way you know where a particular photo is available, but you also have the ability to search your entire photo library by keyword .

so at first glance the software of the HTC ONE M9 is clever. The interface works smoothly, Sense 7.0 focuses on unity and convenience numerous handy features (like the ability to customize the touch buttons below the screen) that's  really add something.

Camera: better selfies and customization

the camera of the M9 has a large number of options to shoot  perfect pictures. However, the camera app is simple to use. You can limit yourself to shoot in auto mode, but also have many customization options (white balance, exposure, ISO speed) at your disposal. At the front we find the four ultra-pixel camera that we know from the One M8, The main advantage of this camera is that it captures selfies   shoots in low light condition with good quality.

The same applies to 20-megapixel camera on the back, though we noticed during the review test that it focuses slightly faster and even in dark environments you can shoot pictures with lots of detail.

and  according to HTC the m9 run with  an algorithm that ensures that the exposure, sharpness and contrast are adjusted constantly for the perfect shoots.

The price of this one of new phones 2015 starting from $649 and is expected to be available on store on 25 march 2015.

The  HTC One M8 was launched in 2013 and is one of best new phones in 2013

 the new flagship of HTC  builds from the success of its predecessor and is much less innovative than the previous flagship of the  Taiwanese brand, but it  has improved on almost every point. This is the new HTC One is already one of the best smart phones of 2013, on this review we will cover everything  you need to know about the htc one m8.

Design

The new One builds on the metal design. The metal has a brushed finish that looks something more robust and because the plastic side has been replaced by metal, the device feels even more firmly in hand. The metal shines more and especially the silver version (Glacial Silver) looks thus slightly cheaper. The dark gray model (Gunmetal Grey) looks a lot nicer and the third version, the golden One (Amber Gold), looks more brown than gold.

The device with dimension of 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35 mm and 160 grams also a lot longer and heavier than the HTC One M7. This is because the screen size has increased, The bar below the screen still shows the HTC logo,  It would have been nicer if HTC had removed this bar, but possibly the Taiwanese company has the space needed. This device is actually too large to operate with one hand.

The power button still on  the top, an odd choice for such a large device. Fortunately, the Smartphone with two taps on the screen also activate similar to LG's KnockOn function. On the right side we find the volume buttons and microSD card slot, The bottom has a  room for a micro-USB cable and headphones. The placement of the headphone jack at the bottom is fine when you remove the device from your pocket . The top of the HTC One is next to the power button .

The Tree Sound speakers of the original HTC One are found again in the new flagship, both the speakers and amplifiers are completely renewed, making the sound still sounds fuller and firmer. And the Taiwanese company has not lied. the Noise generated by the dual speakers of the HTC One, is unmatched in the Smartphone world. The sound of the Tree Sound speakes are so hard that it just hurts your ears.

Screen

The HTC One is equipped with a 5-inch screen with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. it is not a qhd screen but still offer a high quality . However, HTC has the saturation slightly raised from the screen.

but the Saturation does not detract from the quality of the screen: that is simply outstanding. besides HTC is known for its excellent screen technology and the new One is again a hit. The viewing angles are very good again and because HTC has reduced the screen edges,the  5-inch screen looks even bigger than it already is. This particular gives a nice effect in combination with Android 4.4 KitKat, which runs natively on the HTC One M8 .

Hardware

the HTC One M8 equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip with a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, and a  2GB of RAM with  16GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card. and is availabe with another version with  32GB . Furthermore, there is support for the low-energy Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and 4G networks. Wireless charging is not supported by the metal housing.

in addition , the device has access to some new smart sensors. These sensors, such as a pedometer, it working through a separate energy-efficient processor to save energy. Such sensors are already present in other  devices from competitors such as the iPhone and Moto X.

The use of a highly energy efficient pedometer allow to HTC One m8 to keep tracking  of daily activities and link them to a Fitbit account.

  

 This device is actually the replacement for the Fitbit Flex, the popular sports tracker in the form of a bracelet.

Software

The htc one m8  runs on Android 4.4 out of the box (KitKat) and Sense 6, which is an update from the sense 5,but it's really changing aspects to improve the user experience. Sense 6 is more colorful, playful  , and is more beautiful than the previous version, with a focus on pastel colors, unity and convenience.

Kit Kat

Through the use of the colors by KitKat walk up to the top, and which gives a cool effect to the mobile operating system. Many HTC apps use their own distinctive color, adjust via the theme settings. Through the same section, it is possible to change the accent colors, like the colors you see in the settings menu.

The HTC One for the first touchscreen controls it maintains the Google button mapping, the back home and multitasking button. Also nice: the multitasking window has a special button that closes all recent apps. Convenient to keep the memory of the One clean.

A cool feature of the Sense that it can quickly access to the settings menu via the notification bar and is fully customizable . So you have the ability to customize the shortcuts in the list to suit your own use. Turn often nfc on? You can add a specific NFC button on the overview to turn on or off .

Blink Feed

Another Two useful features are the media transfer from another smartphone and the Remote app. With the latter, you can easily control your TV and set-top box. Also to install the app is simple: you choose the manufacturer of your TV and press the  button to see if the app works. If it doesn’t works, Then the remote app automatically selects a different firmware to try again until the correct firmware is found. Similarly for the set-top box. Within five minutes I could control both my Philips and Samsung TV.

Through the media section you can very easy transfer your media from any Android smartphone, iPhone, Windows Phone or BlackBerry to r your new HTC One: a handy addition. This includes contacts and photos.

Tricks

HTC has more tricks added to the One. Besides tapping twice on the screen to activate the Smartphone, users can also turn the phone horizontally and press a volume button to launch the camera app directly. Or swipe the screen from left to right to show directly Blink Feed. Another trick is to automatically answer a call when you bring the phone to your ear.

Such additions make the HTC One H8 more  smarter without adding too many unnecessary features - a strategy that many Android manufacturers use lately. Another addition that you can get 50GB free Google Drive storage, when you buy HTC One M8.

Camera

The HTC One still uses four ultra-pixel camera - a camera that captures a lot of light - from its predecessor, with the Snapdragon 801 chip and enhanced flash should provide a higher quality of photos.

although the four ultra-pixel camera shoot good photos in dark environments ,

The quality of the pictures is fine, but the performance of the  four ultra-pixel camera still not as good as the cameras of competitors. Admittedly, the photos contain less noise and the  improved flash is especially for dark environments is a fine addition, but the quality  still  not spectacular. And that's a shame, because it would detract from the attention that HTC has paid to the design of the Smartphone.

At the rear, next to the four ultra-pixel camera also find an additional 2 megapixel camera. This camera  offers the ability to shoot pictures and then later you can adjust the focus. The four ultra-pixel camera shoots the "normal" photo, the 2 megapixel camera ensures that the rest of the picture - if the user so desires - can be brought into focus.

On the front is a 5 megapixel camera present with a wide angle lens. Allows you shoot  selfies in high quality. The quality of the 5 megapixel camera is good and the angle is very useful if you want to take a selfie with several people.

Furthermore, the HTC One m8  can can film with 1080p, editing photos, and advanced switching a special dual capture mode to take a picture while simultaneously making a selfie. Furthermore, HTC gets compliments for the gallery app: this is colorful, simple to operate and offers a nice overview for your photos. Finally, the HTC One automatically selects your best pictures, and  then placing it in a video with effects and music. A nice gesture

Battery

the HTC One M8 have a battery of 2600 mah, a battery that offer a full hd display, and is better than the previous Smartphone of the htc brand, This is mainly because some features that HTC has added to the One. Take for example the automatic brightness, which is bright too often in many smartphone. The HTC One m8 lets you set the brightness, so you never have too bright screen. And that saves battery.

There is also a sleep mode that turns off the data connection available, for longer inactivity and a power saving mode. At last you get to see a different homescreen with only the most important apps. The phone switches only the data connection if the screen is also enabled. By this mode, you can use only a few percent of the total power of the battery.

You can get the end of the day with normal use  but the phone will not get the end of the evening with heavy use.

Dot View Case

One of the accessories that will be available for the HTC One, the Dot View Case, and that may be the secret weapon of the One. This is a flip case where the screen turns on automatically when you open the case, but the accessory has very small holes in the flap. Tap twice and a special mode is triggered by which information is shown through the holes, such as time, weather, and new notifications.

Dot View Case just works with portions of the screen, so the light shines through the holes of the flap. The appearance while a bit like old games with many pixels, but the Dot View Case continues to look tremendously cool. The cover costs $42 and is currently only compatible with HTC One. It remains unclear whether HTC will release a similar case for the previous HTC One.
